Flea control

Fleas are a life-cycle problem. We treat the whole cycle.

Spraying adult fleas only handles a small share of the population — most of it lives as eggs and larvae in carpets, bedding, and shaded yard areas. A Plus Pesticide targets every stage.

Fleas in Jacksonville

Why fleas explode in Jacksonville.

Florida's warmth and humidity let fleas breed outdoors nearly year-round — in shaded yard areas, under decks, and wherever pets and wildlife travel. A couple of fleas on a pet can become thousands in the home within weeks.

The tricky part is the life cycle: adult fleas are only a small fraction of the population. Eggs, larvae, and pupae hide in carpet fibers, furniture, and yard debris, and pupae can sit dormant for months before emerging. That is why a proper treatment covers the pet, the home, and the yard together.

What to look for

Signs fleas have taken up residence.

01

Pets scratching — a lot

Persistent scratching, hair loss, or flea dirt (tiny black specks that turn red on a wet towel) on your pet is the classic first sign.

02

Bites at the ankles

Small, itchy bites concentrated around ankles and lower legs often mean fleas are living in carpets or flooring.

03

Fleas jumping in the yard

Fleas visible hopping through grass or on your socks after walking the lawn means a yard population is established.

04

Sudden activity in empty homes

Fleas appearing in force after returning from a trip happens when pupae emerge all at once in a vacant space.

Our process

How A Plus clears a flea problem.

01 — AssessWhere the population lives — pet areas, carpets, bedding, and the shaded zones of the yard where larvae develop.

02 — Treat all stagesTreatments that knock down adults and interrupt the egg and larval stages, applied indoors and outdoors where activity is.

03 — Follow throughA follow-up visit timed to the cycle, plus simple pet-treatment coordination with your vet so the source does not refill the house.

Common questions

Fleas questions we hear.

Why am I still seeing fleas after treatment?

Pupae are resistant to treatments and hatch over days to weeks afterward. Seeing some fleas shortly after service is normal — the follow-up visit is what clears them.

Do I need to treat my pet too?

Yes. Home and yard treatment only works if the pet is on vet-recommended flea control, or the source keeps restarting the population inside.

Can fleas live in my yard year-round in Florida?

In Jacksonville, essentially yes — our winters rarely get cold enough to stop the cycle outdoors, which is why yard treatment matters here.
